NOTES ON THE NAME "POOT" AND DUTCH NAMING TRADITIONS



                  Background on each family name and its spelling variations came from the Meertens
                  Institute in the Netherlands.  They have also published "Die Reportorium van
                  Familienamen" based upon a detailed study of the 1947 census of the Netherlands.  Their
                  website is:  www.meertens.knaw.nl

                  The spelling variations of the family names were copied  from the family records located in
                  several different Netherlands archives.

                  Maps showing the geographic distribution of surnames in the Netherlands are from
                  counts of 1993 telephone directory entries published at:   www.familienaam.nl


                  HISTORICAL PERSONS WITH THE NAME OF "POOT"

                  Some historical names came from the Meertens Institute, a history and genealogy center
