PUBLISHED IN PELLA (IOWA) -

Geisler Library at Central College in Pella: www.central.edu

The single greatest resource has been Christine Peery, the archivist of the Geisler Library
at Central College. She has been patient and persistent in her quest to assist my research.
She has offered historical information, suggested resources, reviewed an old photo, and
retrieved pages of the "Pella Blade" and "Pella's Weekblad". The newspapers contained
                  important details of family events.

Rev. William Zeilstra has written "The Origins of Pella II", a CRC church that split from the
4th RC just prior to JW Poot's arrival. His impressive research gives a good background
history of the Fourth Reformed Church. The paper can be found at the 2nd CRC website:
                  www.2refpella.org

The WF Poot marriage record can be found at www.gale.ancestry.com in "Iowa Marriages
                  1851-1900".

Information about the Pella newspapers came primarily from:
"A History of Marion County, Iowa and its People", by John W. Wright & W. A. Young.
Published 1915 by S.J. Clark Publishing.

Additional Pella newspaper details came from:
"Hollanders of Iowa", "chapter 30 - The Dutch Press in Iowa", by Jacob van der Zee, 1912.

A colorful website about Pella, its Tulip Festival, and historic sites, is maintained by the
                  Pella Historical Society at: www.PellaTulipTime.com

Another interesting website that promotes the community is: www.PositvelyPella.com

Pella is picturesquely described in: "Special Places: In Search of Small Town America", by
Berton Roueche. Little, Brown & Co., Boston, 1982.

RETURN TO CHICAGO AND A NEW LIFE IN NEWAYGO

Most of the Chicago information came from the sources listed for the earlier chapter about
                  Chicago.

Old photographs and their annotations by WF Poat gave essential information about
                  Newaygo, Michigan and Stella, Nebraska.
Information about Newaygo, Michigan from the Newaygo County Historical Archives at:
                  http://ncha.ncats.net

Historical background, maps, cemetery lists, and old photos from Nebraska were located
in the University of Kansas in their Old Time Nebraska Collection at:
