Dr. Henk Poot was born in 1955. He is a prominent Protestant minister in
the Netherlands. He has written several books since in the 1990's. The
most popular is "Joseph, a Messianic History" (Jozef, Een Messiaanse
Geschiedenis). In this he details the life, sufferings, and final victory of
Joseph in the Old Testament then draws parallels with the life of Jesus
Christ. He also details many of the connections between Judaism and
Christianity.
He is Coordinator of the "Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem". Dr.
Poot is also one of the governing members of the Evangelical Working
Group and of the Christian Friends of Israeli Communities Holland.
His prominent ideas seem to be the following:
The Christian religion is in danger of deteriorating into paganism.
Evangelism is necessary to revitalize the Christian religion. Christianity is
an extension of Judaism. In the Second Coming, the Messiah will be the
King of Israel. Christians need to support Israel and the Jews because of
their shared heritage.
Jan Poot and his wife Ans are Baptist missionaries from the Netherlands
who have traveled to many countries. They are currently working in
Thailand starting new churches.
Jan Poot is an organist in the Netherlands; he may be semi-retired now.
Jan Poot B.V. is an engineering company that reclaims lowlands for the
construction of commercial buildings and for real-estate developments.
Johan Robert ("Rob") Poot was born in Schiedam in Zuid-Holland in the
Netherlands in 1959. While a child he moved to Noord-Holland where he
currently lives and works. He is well known in Dutch genealogy for his
research and the great web site he operates - www.jrpoot.eu. This
enormous web site includes data about many thousands of Poots and their
relatives. It is a wonderful contribution to genealogy researchers.
Jurrie (Jurriaan Adrianus) Poot is a highly regarded art historian and art
critic with a large number of books and publications in Europe. Much of
his work has been done with the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam where
he is the head conservator. He is also manager of the Werkman Art
Collection and secretary of the H.N. Werkman Foundation. He may be the
grandson of Job Poot, the brother of J.W. Poot.
