XII.4. Abraham Poot (Abe Poat) [7170]. Born in Berlikum, FR, 19 June 1879. Died in Holmes
Co., Ohio, USA 19 July 1918 (Influenza epidemic?). Married Selma M. Young [7171] on 27 Oct
1917 in Holmes Co, Ohio. (Probably by WF Poat in Millersburg.) Selma was born in
Millersburg, Holmes Co., Ohio on 17 Aug 1884. She died 7 June 1976 in Fort Lauderdale,
Broward Co., Florida. After Abe's death she lived with her parents, Barnhart and Eva, and her
widowed older sister, Cora. Selma remarried to Oliver Jackson Uhl on 11 Dec 1923 in Holmes
Co., Ohio. Oliver was born in Millersburg (Hardy Twsp), Holmes Co., Ohio on 7 Sept 1877.
Oliver died Aug 1962 in Jackson Co., Florida. Abraham fathered no known children.
XII.5. Lammerdina Poot (Lamberdina/ Dena Poat) [7172]. Born in Oude Leije, FR, 8 Oct 1880.
Date of death unknown, but after 1938. Married 17 Sept 1912 in Ohio, USA to Noah J.
("Yost") Yoder [7173]. He was born 19 Aug 1880 in Ohio, his parents were born in
Pennsylvania. They belonged to the Reformed Church. About 1920 he was a machinist at a
factory. In 1930 he operated a fruit farm. Lived in Ohio for many years. Widowed mother,
Fredericka Poat, lived with them in Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio, 1918 -1930.

XII.6. Frederika Wilhelmina Poot (Fredericke/ Freda) [7174] daughter born Oude Leije (FR), 26
June 1882. She died between 1900 and 1910. She might have married before her death.
Incorrectly thought to have married Lambert Noordhoff before her death. However, Noah
Yoder could have married her, but no record located.
XII.7. Joseph "Joe" Poat (Johannes Poot) [7175]. Son born Oude Leije, FR, 24 June 1883. Died
after 1930. Settled in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, USA. Worked as bookkeeper for Illinois
Trust and Savings bank in 1920s, then was salesman in an insurance office in 1930. Married
in 1908 to Grace, who was born ca. 1884 in Illinois of Dutch parents. Grace died 8 Nov 1934
in Chicago.

2. Wilbur, son born in 1911. Maybe born 13 Dec 1912 and died Jan 1987 in Illinois.
3. Raymond, son born in Chicago 19 Dec 1917. Died 29 April 1990 at Oak Lawn, Illinois.
He became a major league baseball pitcher.

XII.8. John William Poot, Jr. (Jan Willem Poot, Junior) [7176]. Son born in Oude Leije, FR, 28
Dec 1884. Died after 1920, probably before 1930. He did not change the spelling of his
family name, perhaps because of his job. Settled in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Worked as a
policeman. Rescued people at the Eastland boat disaster in July 1915, and worked during
race riots of 1919. After the riots he changed jobs and worked as a floor salesman. He was
tall, large, overweight and loved to eat and drink. He died of a heart attack while leaving the
office building where a doctor had just pronounced him to be in fine health. Married to
Jennie Dolfing 26 Aug 1904 in Chicago. Jennie was born Oct 1884 in Illinois of Dutch parents
Albert and Altine Dolfing.

1. John Albert Poot (Johnny Floyd? Poat). Born in late 1905 in Chicago, Illinois. Began
professional singing career at age six. (Orpheum circuit?) Later changed spelling of name to
Poat. Drove a delivery truck for a bakery in 1930 census. Married in 1926 to Eleanor. She
was born ca 1904 in Illinois of Norwegian parents. (Was Peggy her nickname or a 2nd wife?)
Moved to Riverside California in 1930s. Drove Pierce Arrow luxury car in parades. May have
become an alcoholic and died in 1940 -1950 time period. Needs further research.
