The Poots moved back to Chicago no later than June 1900. Although their
time in Pella was short, it was always a source of many memories.

                  -AFTERWORD-

Though many farming communities struggle or even fail to survive, Pella
remains a small yet healthy town. This can be credited to a good work
ethic, strong Christian values, and sound community planning. Two major
factories and a popular tourist business make many jobs. Central College
contributes to the economy and more importantly, attracts educated
young people to the area. Strict building codes insure their Dutch
heritage is maintained. The Tulip Festival in the first week of May attracts
many thousands of tourists. The Pella Historical Society is an important
contributor to Pella's success. They preserve Pella's history, promote
community pride, and operate museums and the Pella Historical Village.
Crime is minimal and the people are friendly. Pella is a true gem in
                  Midwestern America!
