PELLA’S MAIN SQUARE
The Pella’s Weekblad newspaper office circa 1900. A parade on Broadway is passing in
front as a woman watches from the door of the news office. This office also printed the
English-language weekly newspaper Pella Blade. (courtesy Pella Historical Society)
The Jaarsma family opened a bakery in
1899. They moved to this building on
the main square in 1948. The bakery
is still famous for fine Dutch desserts
including these “Dutch Letter”
pastries.
