PELLA CHURCHES IN 1900
When Rev. J.W. Poot was minister
to the 4th Reformed Church, they
were using the old Scholte
Church building. This church
was built in 1855 and torn down
in 1916. The town motto
appears above the door - “In Deo
spes nostra et refugium“ (In God
is our hope and refuge).

The old 2nd Reformed Church was started in 1863 as the first English
language Reformed Church in Pella. W.F. Poot preached and led services here
when he first arrived at Pella in December 1899. (courtesy 2nd Ref Church)
