2. Wilbur, son born in 1911. Maybe born 13 Dec 1912 and died Jan 1987 in Illinois.
3. Raymond, son born in Chicago 19 Dec 1917. Died 29 April 1990 at Oak Lawn, Illinois.
He became a major league baseball pitcher.

XII.8. John William Poot, Jr. (Jan Willem Poot, Junior) [7176]. Son born in Oude Leije, FR, 28Dec
1884. Died after 1920, probably before 1930. He did not change the spelling of hisfamily name, perhaps
because of his job. Settled in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Worked as apoliceman. Rescued people at the
Eastland boat disaster in July 1915, and worked duringrace riots of 1919. After the riots he changed jobs
and worked as a floor salesman. He wastall, large, overweight and loved to eat and drink. He died of a
heart attack while leaving theoffice building where a doctor had just pronounced him to be in fine health.
Married toJennie Dolfing 26 Aug 1904 in Chicago. Jennie was born Oct 1884 in Illinois of Dutch
parentsAlbert and Altine Dolfing.

1. John Albert Poot (Johnny Floyd? Poat). Born in late 1905 in Chicago, Illinois. Beganprofessional
singing career at age six. (Orpheum circuit?) Later changed spelling of name toPoat. Drove a delivery
truck for a bakery in 1930 census. Married in 1926 to Eleanor. Shewas born ca 1904 in Illinois of
Norwegian parents. (Was Peggy her nickname or a 2nd wife?)Moved to Riverside California in 1930s.
Drove Pierce Arrow luxury car in parades. May havebecome an alcoholic and died in 1940 -1950 time
period. Needs further research.
GENERATION XIII
XIII.3.1. Lawrence (Larry) Frederick Poat. Born 16 June 1899 in Pella, Iowa. Served in Navy in WWI,
ship sunk, spent time in hospital, then reentered war service. Circa 1920 married Edna M., probably in
Illinois. She was born in New York, 1897 and died 16 May 1959. In 1930 they lived at Mount Vernon,
Knox Co., Ohio where he worked as automobile repairman. He died Apr 1970 in Ohio. Buried in
Greenlawn Cemetery, Ashland Co., Iowa. Edna, his first wife, was re-interred next to his grave Apr
1970. From this marriage:
1. Faith - daughter born circa 1921-2 in Illinois
His second marriage was to Ethel L. Baughman. She was born on 7 Apr 1901 and died in Feb
1985.
There were no children from his second marriage.
XIII.3.3. Angela (Ange) Louise Poat. Married William Sunter. Later they divorced. From this marriage:
1. William (Billy) Sunter Jr.
Second marriage to Irvin (Irv) Featherstone. (One of twin boys named by their Russian doctor Ivan and
Irvin. His twin brother died.) He was born 10 Feb 1902 and died August 1979 in Arkansaw. He was
financial controller of Chrysler Automotive Corporation, but retired after injured in a car accident. He
