Illinois and buried in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Married Fredrika Sophia Vink [7165] in Edam, Noord
Holland, 9 March 1875. She was born at 'sGravenhage (The Hague) in Zuid Holland, possibly in May
1846-1848. She died 5 July 1930 in Wayne Co., Ohio, USA. Jan was active in the evangelical reform
movement leading to separation of church in 1886. Minister in Berlikum and Oude Leije, Friesland 1878-
1887. Moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA in Sept 1887. Minister of Presbyterian, Reformed,
Congregational, and Lutheran churches. Owned some newspapers, but was not successful. Name changed
to John William Poot upon arrival in USA. Family name changed to Poat in 1909.
